Alex Kidd in Miracle World really is a great platformer, once you get past the slightly difficult controls (for the swimming especially), and get further into the game. You really do feel like you’re going on a grand adventure once you’re a decent ways into it, and the gameplay and level design starts to get really good the more you play.
I’m very interested in this unofficial sequel. Everything about it, from the box art to the in-game graphics and level design, looks spot on.
Note: Sega should actually just give the guys that developed this a few bucks and release the game officially as a wee treat to fans, both in physical and digital versions. 😀
